Oxford Clean Rivers Festival is an event to celebrate our rivers in Oxford and beyond, whilst raising awareness for the threats they are under and the urgent need for action.

The Oxford Clean Rivers Initiative brings together numerous organisations and individuals with the same objectives – to protect and restore our rivers. These organisations include Earthwatch Europe, Friends of the Earth Oxford, River Action, Friends of Longbridges and others.

Our aims for this rally are as follows:

  • To raise public awareness and understanding of the threats facing our rivers and the need for change;
  • To build support for concerted and funded action to cut / minimise sewage pollution in the Thames;
  • To show the existing level and breadth of support for such an initiative; and
  • To get more people and organisations engaged with this initiative.

The event will run at the Longbridges Nature Park on 25th May 2024 and will include speeches and entertainment, artistic activities, interest stalls and food & drink. It will benefit from the Traditional Summer Eights event hosted by Oxford University Rowing Clubs.  The racing occurs between 11.15am and 6:15pm (last race starts at 5:45pm)
