Oxford Federation of Community Associations (OFCA) is the representative group for Community Centres in Oxford and organises:

  • grant allocations
  • information sharing, support and training

Community Centre Satisfaction Surveys

Four community centres across Oxford were surveyed in a pilot study to better understand who currently uses community centres and how satisfied those customers are with the services they receive. Our results give a useful indication of current customer opinion which are summarised in the report documents below and will support our ongoing work with these community centres:

Visible Communities logo

VISIBLE Status

VISIBLE is an independent standard designed to promote quality within the charity and community sector. It is a national standard that provides a framework for development and recognition of best practice.

VISIBLE stands for:

  • A Voice to represent issues of local concern
  • An Independent and politically neutral organisation
  • A Service provider for local people
  • An Initiator of projects to meet locally identified need
  • A Builder of partnerships with other local organisations and groups
  • A strong Local network of people and organisations
  • A way to Engage local people to become active in their communities

In June 2007, Cutteslowe Community Association became the first community organisation in the country to achieve VISIBLE status in recognition of the association's good work in the community.

In September 2008, West Oxford Community Association became the second community association in the city to be awarded VISIBLE status, and only the fifth nationally.

In October 2010 Jericho Community Association was awarded VISIBLE status, recognising their work to engage local people.

How does Oxford City Council support Community Groups?
