Building Control services - get advice on your project or book an inspection

Building Control ensures the health and safety of people in and around buildings. It protects the public by ensuring the legal requirements for building design and construction are complied with.

If you need advice or to book an inspection, Building Control officers are available Monday to Friday before 10.00am and there is usually an Officer or Technical Administrator around during the day.

Other services we provide include:

1. Examining plans and calculations for compliance with the Building Regulations.
2. Inspecting building works to ensure that they meet the minimum standards set out in the Approved Documents.
3. Action to protect the public from dangerous and dilapidated buildings or structures.
4. Demolitions monitoring.
5. Safety of Sports Grounds.

What the law requires

Builders and Developers are required by the Building Regulations and legislation contained in the Building Act 1984 to obtain building control approval.
