Interments - 30 minutes in cemetery

To include boards, straps, soil disposal and removal of flowers. Additional time chargeable per half hour or part half hour. Maximum coffin Size 7ft x 32in. Additional fees for larger and casket.

Memorials and grave care    

The Council is not responsible to maintain or restore memorials nor is the Council responsible for the removal or replacement of a memorial before/after an interment. 

The following rates include the description of name(s) of those interred at the time the memorial is placed.    

To erect / amend / maintain a Memorial or maintain a grave the Exclusive Rights of Burial must have been purchased.    

• Permit to clean, maintain or restore a grave (headstone and ground) - £50.00
• A headstone or other memorial more than 2 feet 6 inches in height up to a maximum of 3 feet 6 inches in height - £273.00
• A headstone, book or other memorial up to and including 2 feet 6 inches in height (including cremated remains memorials up to a maximum of 18 inches) - £231.00
• A headstone, flat stone, tablet book, inscribed vase or other memorial on any plot up to and including 12 inches in height - £162.75
• Other memorials including Vases, Statues, ballastrades (max 18 inches tall) - £165.00
• A headstone or other memorial on a child’s grave not exceeding 18 inches in height - £68.25
• Flat cover slab 6 feet x 3 feet approximately on an adult’s grave - free to family if applied for within 5 months of funeral - £225.75
• Flat cover slab 3 feet x 1.5 feet approximately  on a child’s grave - £120.75

Resident rates

Resident rates apply:

• when two forms of proof of an Oxford City Council area address are given
• where the deceased entered a care home within 5 years and evidence of the previous Oxford City Council area address can be given    

Reclaimed graves  

A reclaimed grave has been used however the Exclusive Rights of Burial were not purchased. In purchasing a reclaimed grave you can use the remaining burial space and will be purchasing the Exclusive Rights of Burial and the interment cost for the first interment is included in the purchase fee.
