If you plan to demolish a building that isn't exempt, you must notify us. The demolition work should only begin once:
- a section 81 notice has been served, which sets out the demolition conditions
- waiting for a 6-week period to pass without any response from us
Download the Demolition notice application form.
If you intend to put up a scaffolding or hoarding on the public highway, you must first get the consent of Oxfordshire County Council (Highways Authority). You can get a form to apply for this from the Oxfordshire County Council website.
Demolition exemptions
Buildings exempt from demolition control include:
- buildings with an external size of less than 50 cubic metres (smaller than an average double garage)
- conservatories, sheds, or garages that are extensions of a building
- buildings used solely as agricultural buildings
- occupied buildings where the intent is to keep them occupied
