The Community Response Team's (CRT) role is to tackle and prevent anti-social behaviour (ASB). This also includes dealing with environmental crime, enforcement, and supporting Clean, Green Oxford.

Saturdays: 8.30am to 4pm
What the team does
The CRT work closely with our Anti-social Behaviour Investigation Team and help monitor public safety. They regulate commercial businesses and investigate anti-social behaviour. They investigate noise complaints in domestic premises with some exceptions, most notably if it involves living noise.
The CRT tackles Category 3 ASB incidents. Some examples include:
- Anti-social behaviour
- Pet and animal nuisance (if you're a council housing tenant please report to your Tenancy Management Officer first - see Who to contact about your tenancy
- Minor noise nuisance (except hardwood flooring or building related noise in our council housing which should be referred to Landlord Services)
- Assist landlords tackle untidy gardens where there is a risk to public health
- Litter, rubbish, refusal disposal and fly tipping
- Running a business without permission
- Car repairs in public places
- Vandalism and damage to property
The team have a range of prevention, intervention and diversionary activities to help them stop ASB. Examples of the types of actions they carry out are listed below:
- Safeguard vulnerable individuals
- Provide a visible presence in ASB hotspots
- Mediation
- Provide support for victims and witnesses
- Early intervention, to make it clear that anti-social behaviour is unacceptable
- Support perpetrators to change behaviour
- Engage with communities and work on educational and preventative measures to help stop the problems from occurring in the first place
- Issue legal notices for various anti-social and environmental matters
- Issue Fixed Penalty Notices and gather evidence for other types of enforcement
- Help local people know their rights and powers to trigger quick and effective action to tackle anti-social behaviour when required
- Help local people to know how to report anti-social behaviour
- Work directly with excluded and vulnerable sections of the community aiming to promote a greater understanding of the cause and effect of ASB
The work of the CRT helps the people of Oxford to live safely and independently in their neighbourhoods and communities. They are not able to provide an immediate reactive response and if the matter involves crime and other risk to a person or property then contact the Police first.
