Loan agreement for the Lord Mayor's Deposit Guarantee Scheme

For reference, here's a copy of the loan agreement that you're required to sign.

I understand that all statements made in the singular will also apply to both parties if this application is made by a couple.

I declare that any information provided to the Housing Benefit department and / or the Welfare Reform Team is true to the best of my knowledge and that financial assistance is required.

If eligible, I confirm I would like assistance from the Lord Mayor’s Deposit Guarantee Scheme. I understand that the payment will be made by way of an interest free loan in order to secure the tenancy at the affordable property I have found.

If the property is not secured successfully, then this loan must be returned to Oxford City Council immediately and in full. By the end of this tenancy the ‘Deposit’ and ‘Rent Advance’ amounts must be returned to Oxford City Council.

I must take steps to save money for any future tenancies.

Should I fall into arrears during this tenancy, or otherwise behave in a way to cause the ending of this tenancy, then I may be asked to repay the full amount of the total payment issued to secure this tenancy, or to contribute to the repayment of the total payment issued.

If I cause any damage to the property or fall behind with the rent, it is understood that separate action may be taken by the landlord towards the cost of any arrears or repairs to the property. Should this happen, recovery action may be sought by Oxford City Council and /or the landlord which may include litigation through the County Court.

If the tenancy ends as a result of my behaviour and I am made homeless by eviction, the Council may consider me to be intentionally homeless.  This could prevent me from accessing any Council housing in future.

I have signed below to confirm I understand and agree with the following:

• The terms set out above;
• You will use the information provided to process the agreed payments; and
• You may check some of the information with other sources within the Council and other external Government departments, e.g. the DWP, HMRC and the Home Office.
