Peril's Copse takes its name from the adjacent Peril's Field, which the site once belonged, before it was sectioned and fenced off, creating an area of nature by the tenant farmer.

By foot/bike
Peril's Copse is located at the back of Horspath Sports Ground and at the bottom of Shotover Country Park and is accessible from both locations through access gates.
By bus
Local buses stop at either Horspath Rd (10-15 min walk) or outside the entrance to Horspath Sports Ground (5 min walk)
By car
There is ample free car parking at the Horspath Sports Ground.

Volunteers have spent many hours planting, developing and maintaining Peril's Copse for the benefit of local wildlife and to preserve traditional land management techniques.
Both adults and children are encouraged to come along and wander through the site.

Walking
You can take a short walk through the copse or incorporate it into a longer walk around the sports ground or Shotover.

The copse is made up of hazel and ask semi-mature woodland and open glades.
Whilst at Peril's Copse we have identified:
- Rabbits
- Pheasant
- Deer
- Foxes
- Badger
- Red Kites
- Buzzard
