We have carried out several electric vehicle projects, including the Go Ultra Low Oxford (GULO) project which offered charging points solutions for residents without driveways, including bollards and lamppost chargers.

Our wider Taxi Go Ultra Low Oxford (T-GULO) project aimed to provide rapid charging points for electric taxis, supporting the transition of Oxford’s Hackney and Private Hire vehicles to electric.

Ongoing projects

Oxford City Council's Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (OXLEVI)

Oxford City Council’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) project, also known as OXLEVI, aims to enhance Oxford’s EV charging infrastructure significantly.

The project is part of a countywide initiative led by Oxfordshire County Council and awarded £3.6 million from the government.

The project will triple the number of public EV chargers in Oxfordshire by the end of 2026, adding over 1,300 new charging sockets. This will facilitate the deployment of over 300 chargers in the city - both in car parks and on-street.

The project aims to ensure reliable, contactless public EV charging is available in rural and deprived areas, making EV ownership more accessible.

Oxfordshire County Council’s EVI demand tracker

The Oxfordshire Electric Vehicle Charger and Car Club Demand Tracker is an interactive tool that informs decision-making, enables Oxfordshire County Council to install EV charging stations, and introduces car clubs in areas that will benefit residents most.

Residents can use the interactive map on the Oxfordshire County Council website to suggest locations for EV chargers and car clubs, helping to identify areas with the highest demand and inform future installations.

The project also includes creating EV charging hubs in public car parks, smaller community microhubs, and on-street chargers in residential areas. Additionally, the initiative aims to expand car clubs, particularly those with electric vehicles, offering an alternative to traditional car ownership.
