We work together with Registered Providers of Social Housing to provide affordable and secure accommodation.
We operate the Oxford Register for Affordable Housing on behalf of this partnership.
Properties owned by the Council or the partner organisations are let through the Housing Register but there are only a limited number of vacancies each year.
The organisations in this partnership are:
- A2 Dominion
- Bedfordshire Pilgrims Housing Association (BPHA)
- GreenSquareAccord
- Home Group
- Legal and General Affordable Homes
- Metropolitan Thames Valley
- Orbit
- OX Place
- Peabody
- Soha
- Sovereign Network Group (SNG)
- Stonewater
There are not enough social housing properties in Oxford to house all those approaching the Council for housing assistance. The majority of households are unlikely to receive an offer of housing, even if they are included on the Housing Register, and they should consider other housing options instead.
Flats and housing for older people are easier to obtain than family housing.
We use a banding scheme to prioritise our offers of housing to those with the greatest need first. The Allocations Scheme is the policy we use to allocate social housing in Oxford and to prioritise those in housing need on the Oxford Register for Affordable Housing for offers of housing.
Properties are let through our Choice Based Lettings scheme.
