The Decent Homes Standard, established by the government, aims to bring all social housing to a basic standard of habitation.
This standard ensures each council home:
- has modern facilities and services
- is in a reasonable state of repair
- has a reasonable degree of thermal comfort
- meets the minimum fitness standards
We invested around £63 million to upgrade all our 7,900 homes to the Decent Homes Standard by the government's deadline of December 2010.
Introducing the Oxford Standard
We're going beyond the Decent Homes Standard to create our own, The Oxford Standard. This includes all elements of the Decent Homes Standard, plus additional features and enhancements.
The Housing Scrutiny Panel and Tenant Scrutiny Panel are collaborating on this initiative. To ensure we include our wider tenant community's input, we're conducting home visits and surveys across Oxford to gather your opinions and feedback.
