Census 2021 data has been released for ethnic group. Key findings from this data are as below:

  • In 2021, 54% Oxford's total population was White British - this compares to 64% in 2011
  • 17% of residents were from a white but non-British ethnic background - this compares to 14% in 2011
  • 29% of residents were from a black or minority ethnic group in 2021, compared to 22% in 2011 - this compares to 19% in England

Ethnic diversity in Oxford increased between 2011 and 2021. The number of people across most black and minority ethnic group has increased in the last 10 years.

The largest non-white ethnic groups represented in Oxford are Pakistani, Indian, Black African, 'other Asian' and Chinese ethnic groups.
