To estimate your potential housing benefit, you should first determine the applicable Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rate.
If you're a care leaver under 22 or living with a partner who is a care leaver under 22, and you have no dependent children, your benefit will be based on the one-bedroom LHA rate.
A care leaver refers to someone who was under a care order on their 16th birthday and was in the care of a local authority for a total of at least 13 weeks between the ages of 14 and 16.

Factors that might influence your LHA include:
- your income
- your savings
- the amount of your rent
