Rewiring your council home

The process of rewiring your council home is expected to take around five working days to complete.

Details of the work

• floorboards and/or carpets may need to be lifted. We will re-secure the floorboards and place carpets back down, though they will not be re-fitted
• chasing out walls may be necessary for the new wiring, which can produce a lot of dust. We will re-plaster but will not redecorate
• your electricity supply will be temporarily switched off during electrical work for safety. This will be for the minimum time required to complete the works
• at the end of each day, we'll ensure you have essential services: power and lighting in all rooms, hot and cold water in your bathroom and/or kitchen, and a working toilet
