Repairs you are responsible for
As a shared owner, you need to handle certain repairs in your home. This responsibility covers:
- boiler and heating systems
- electrics, including faulty sockets
- gas appliances and pipework
- plumbing issues, such as leaking taps or toilets not flushing
- glazing in your windows
When hiring tradespeople for any domestic repairs, especially for gas and electrical work, please ensure they have valid public liability insurance and the necessary qualifications. For more information, refer to the handbook you received when moving in.
£500 per year allowance

Repairs we are responsible for
Oxford City Council takes care of the building's structure, exterior, and shared areas, funded through your service charge. Our responsibilities include:
- windows (excluding glazing) and their fixtures like catches and locks
- main stop taps inside your property
- your front entrance door
To report issues in communal areas, contact our Contact Centre on 01865 249811. When reporting, you'll receive a repairs reference number and information about the repair's priority.
