Oxford City Council has refreshed its website and is inviting Oxford residents to provide feedback.

With Oxford citizens increasingly using the Council's website to pay bills or find information, the Council has refreshed the website’s look and structure, reduced the overall number of pages and documents, and made accessibility improvements to make it easier to use.

The website incorporates best practices from GOV.UK and other local authorities, and has focused on a mobile-first approach.

The website has been built on the Jadu Digital platform.

Members of the Council’s Residents’ Panel were surveyed over the Christmas period, and their comments have been fed into the design and content of the refreshed site.

Of the 116 people who took part in the survey:

  • 92% said the layout is "quite straightforward" or "very straightforward"

  • 88% said the information on the website is clear and helpful

  • 92% said the text size, colour, contrast and navigation are accessible and easy to use

Now the Council is looking for feedback from the wider public.

Residents can comment by visiting www.oxford.gov.uk and clicking or tapping on the site-wide banner.

The Council will be making further improvements to the site over the coming months, and comments from the consultation will be fed into this process.

“The main way Oxford residents interact with Oxford City Council is via our website, so we want to make sure it works for everyone and on any device.

“I hope residents will see that we have made significant improvements to the website over recent months. We’re now inviting them to have their say, so we can make further improvements over the coming months.”

Councillor Nigel Chapman, Cabinet Member for Citizen Focused Services
