Oxford City Council has been shortlisted in the Council of the Year, Housing, Future Places and Environmental Services categories of the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards 2024.

The LGC Awards is one of the most prestigious events in the local government calendar. The Awards are designed to recognise, exhibit, and celebrate outstanding examples of innovation and excellence delivered by councils nationwide. Each year, the awards attract a high number of entries, making winning an LGC Award a coveted accolade.

The shortlist categories

This year, the Council has received the honour of being shortlisted in categories that showcase its commitment to excellence and innovation. The nominations include:

  • Council of the Year as a recognition of the way in which the Council works with its staff to create a learning culture that brings out the best in people, puts citizens at the heart of everything we do, and delivers positive outcomes for the people of Oxford

  • the Council's housing company, OX Place, has been shortlisted in the Housing category for its development of 38 affordable (council and shared ownership) homes at The Curve, in Between Towns Road.

  • the Council's Electric Vehicle Dynamic Purchasing System (EV DPS) has been shortlisted in two categories - Future Place and Environmental Services. The EV DPS was created by Oxford City Council to provide a one stop shop tool for other local authorities to use to procure the EV charging infrastructure needed up and down the country.
