Oxford City Council has launched a public consultation about its Hackney Carriage Vehicles (Taxis/Black Cabs) quantity control policy. This is a statutory requirement.

There are currently 107 licenses for Hackney Carriage Vehicles (Taxis/Black Cabs) in Oxford. These vehicles can be flagged down on the street or hired from a taxi rank without a booking.

The consultation, which will run between 4 September and 27 November 2024, aims to gather insights from residents, visitors, and other stakeholders about the availability of taxis and choice when travelling within the city.

Take part in the consultation.

Comment

“Black cabs offer people flexibility and ease of movement around the city, so we want to make sure our current policy works for everyone. Please do take the time to submit feedback.”

Councillor Louise Upton, Cabinet Member for Planning
