The redevelopment of the East Oxford Community Centre building reached a significant milestone this month with the completion of a new roof.
The new community centre, which is being delivered by ODS, will provide modern, accessible spaces for local residents and organisations, while preserving the centre’s history.
The newly completed roof not only enhances the building's aesthetic appeal but also incorporates advanced materials to ensure long-term durability and sustainability. Its galvanised steel outer layer is supported by a structural plywood panel with integrated vapour control and airtight properties, designed to maximise energy efficiency and support the building’s sustainability goals.
The redevelopment of East Oxford Community Centre is part of Oxford City Council’s commitment to supporting thriving communities by investing in high-quality facilities for local use. This project, developed in consultation with local groups, includes improved event spaces, community meeting rooms, and a café, alongside essential refurbishments to preserve the heritage of this much-loved centre.
The project is set to be completed in 2025. Find out more about the East Oxford Community Centre redevelopment, including updates on the project and opportunities for community involvement.
