Noise control for outdoor events

Outdoor events should not cause unreasonable disturbance to local residents. Event organisers are expected to:

Undertake a noise risk assessment to identify properties that may be affected and how noise will be minimised
Impose conditions on when certain activities can take place
Limit the volume of amplified sound systems
Log any complaints about noise they receive

We will normally monitor events to ensure that conditions are being adhered to.

Code of practice for event organisers

There is a code of practice to assist organisers in the smooth running of events such as college balls, concerts and similar open-air events.

This benefits those attending whilst ensuring that unreasonable disturbance is not caused to local residents.
