Who we are
The aim of Oxford Youth Ambition is to build meaningful relationships with disadvantaged young people aged 11 to 19 years old, (or up to 25 if they have physical or learning difficulties), who are from Oxford’s priority areas, including Blackbird Leys, Barton, Rose Hill, Littlemore, Wood Farm, Northway, Cowley and East Oxford.
Our approach is to engage young people in positive youth work activities and by doing so help them to broaden their knowledge, skills and capabilities in key areas that will support their transition to adulthood.
Getting to know young people gives us the opportunity to identify their needs and we then help them to develop through community projects; issue-based group work and 1-to-1 advice and guidance. We will also actively refer them for specialist support if needed.
The result is more cohesive communities and independent young people who are healthy and happy, have the skills, knowledge and capabilities to access and maintain employment, education or training and are not involved in risky behaviours.
What we offer and where
We engage with young people through youth voice activities, youth clubs, multi-sports sessions and detached work in a variety of settings.
We do it in the following locations:
- Blackbird Leys
- Wood Farm
- Barton
- Northway
- Littlemore
- Cowley
- Youth Employment Hub at Rose Hill Community Centre
Why we do it
We want to see young people who are healthy and happy, who have the skills and knowledge to take meaningful forward steps through life. There are many barriers young people face, and we want to help them overcome these barriers. These might be around education, employment or training.
