Hazardous waste and sharps must not be put in your general waste bin, these need to be disposed of safely to prevent infection spread.

We offer a weekly domestic clinical waste collection service to Oxford city residents. This service is free but you must apply for it. Households using this service are reviewed yearly. 

How to apply for clinical waste collections

  1. Download the Clinical waste application form 
  2. Take the form to your healthcare professional who must sign off the application form and email it to recyclingandwaste@odsgroup.co.uk
  3. The application will be processed by one of our recycling officers

What is hazardous waste and how is it collected

Hazardous waste includes wound dressings, bandages and swabs. 

These are collected in in orange sacks,

What are sharps and how are they collected

Sharps are needles and syringes (used and unused).

These are collected in yellow sharps boxes supplied by your healthcare provider.

What to do with non-hazardous waste

Nappies, incontinence pads and sanitary items are non-hazardous and no special treatment is needed.

Put these, bagged, in your general waste bin.

Commercial clinical waste

We do not provide free clinical waste collections to commercial properties.
