Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors must be provided in all habitable rooms containing a solid fuel appliance, such as a coal or wood fire.
It's also strongly recommended that CO detectors are provided in all habitable rooms containing a gas appliance, such as a boiler or gas heater.
Mains-powered detectors are advised.
Testing CO detectors
All detectors should be tested each time you visit the property (tenants are advised to test weekly) and serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
