Different Council Tax rules apply depending on the mix of students and other adults living in a property.
Exemptions apply when:
- the property is occupied only by full-time students
- the property has one full-time student and one other adult non-student - the student must apply for the disregard (the adult non students bill can be reduced by 25%)
- an international student lives with dependants who have come to the UK with a Tier 4 dependant visa
There are no exemptions when two or more adult, non-students live in the property.
